[unrefined] Slack - a conversation on consistency

This conversation starts with a perspective I hold:

Things shouldn't move around.

In short
Slack app has two things that breaks the above rule: Unread Messages and Drafts

Please implement the story at the bottom of this ramble - essentially: Don't move my channels or direct messages if there are drafts or new messages, please.

In longer
This is within a given context, of course, as we all know rollercoasters should move around, it's to our benefit that the earth keeps movin'round, and whack-a-mole probably should keep us on our toes, too....

however...

The context where we shouldn't move around is User-Experience (UX) User-interface (UI) design.

WHY?
Users expect, and deserve, to look for something where they left it.

"BUT"
... no this doesn't mean you can't ever change things... you better change things, otherwise you'll get old and stale and your competitor will do it for you.

k'fine, what are your examples....

UNREAD [Android app only]
We have the value in bringing together all unread items to one handy spot... yay! ...although, in this instance, you see there are two UNREAD channels (direct messages will show up, too)...  however, my silico%____ channel is no longer in my Starred group, it's disappeared.... so if you're already scrolled down in, near where 'regression' would be in the channels you can't see these unread channels, they've been moved... so if a user (me) is looking to send a message to that channel, or a person, it will be missing.... and you wonder "did i close it" so you go about 'ctrl+k'ing that shit, only to find it's been up there all along and Slack UX has made this dumb user work harder than I wanted to.

What else, much the same, are...
DRAFTS [Android and desktop app]

With the newer draft feature, we have the utility given to use to say "You started a thought here, don't forget, fool." ... cool, thanks.

Although... same thing as above, it's not a highlighter, it's a movement of the channel or direct message I started... and one thing I personally have noticed is that most of my drafts are mistaken-drafts - so spaces or an `a` or something not intentional...  so again, while i like the utility of not losing something I wanted to say... I have a proposition....

Quick thoughts and Proposal
Starred Channels are anchors
Channels and Direct Messages are alphabetical

As for the proposal, I'd say there is benefit for any helpful groupings, like Drafts and Unread, should highlight and link to the anchored positions below...  Here are two stories to get you there:

a)
As a user that has unread messages, I would like Slack to highlight the this with the BOLD experience that you have always done in both the UNREAD and is original location [STARRED, CHANNEL, or DIRECT MESSAGES], so that I can find this where it was before or in the neat unread groupings at the top.

b)
As a user that has unsent typed stuffs in my "Message #/@.." box to a user or channel, I would like Slack to highlight the this within both the DRAFT and is original location [STARRED, CHANNEL, or DIRECT MESSAGE], so that I can find this where it was before or in the neat draft groupings at the top.

Thanks, Slack, for listening.... please leave a comment for a discussion, or just update this for folks.

Notes
This write-up was one I took note of a long while back, and decided to just blast out an [unrefined] version of thought.

[Update 20190906 10:20 - clarified the unread feature is only in the mobile app, not desktop]
